PARAMARIBO, Suriname – Suriname and Dominica meet in Group D of League B of the 2019-20 Concacaf Nations League on Friday at the Andre Kamperveen Stadium in Paramaribo, Suriname.
Suriname jumped to the top of the group after a two-match winning start in September. But a draw and loss to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines saw Suriname relinquish that spot and drop to second.
Forward Gleofilo Vlijter remains the top scorer across all leagues with eight goals through the group stage. Goalkeeper Claidel Kohinor also been key for Suriname with 10 saves in CNL play.
Dominica will be relegated to League C after losing their first four matches in the group stage. They will look to close out their time in League B with a positive result in their matches against Suriname and Nicaragua.
Andernee Frederick and Julian Wade have scored Dominica’s only goals in League B. Wade was the nation’s top scorer during the qualification stage with three.
The two sides faced off in the opening match of the tournament back in September, a 2-1 away win by Suriname.
This will be the fifth encounter between the two sides and the first to take place on Surinamese territory. Suriname leads the all-time series with three wins, the other result ending in a draw.
