THE VALLEY, Anguilla – A strong start consisting of two goals in the first 27 minutes pushed Guadeloupe to a 3-0 victory over Saint Martin in 2019/20 Concacaf Nations League Qualifying on Tuesday in Anguilla.

The win helped Guadeloupe snap a six-match winless streak and earn its second win in its last 15 matches.

Florian David gave Les Gwada Boys a dream 1-0 start with a hard-struck volley in the 6’.

Guadeloupe kept the pressure on and in the 27’ the lead was doubled through Gregory Gendrey, who got on the end of a corner kick at the back post and turned the ball into net.

Saint Martin looked to respond in the second half and four minutes after the re-start Jonathan Nyuiadzi had a good look at goal but fired over the crossbar.

Minutes later Saint Martin’s Yannick Bellechase had a go at goal but his left-footed shot missed wide.

Saint Martin would end up ruing those missed chances, as Guadeloupe would round out the 3-0 scoreline 3-0 in the 65’ courtesy of Yannick Passape’s excellent left-footed finish.

The other match scheduled for Tuesday between Martinique and British Virgin Islands was postponed due to the potential impact of Hurricane Isaac on Martinique and will be rescheduled.
