KINGSTOWN, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines – Saint Vincent and the Grenadines hosts Nicaragua on Friday in Group D of League B of the 2019-20 Concacaf Nations League at the Arnos Vale Stadium in Kingstown, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Vincy Heat will look to solidify the top spot with three points in their final home match of the group stage. Nicaragua are in third place, but only a point separates the two teams.
The two sides played to a 1-1 draw in their opening match of the tournament back in September on a rainy night in Managua. Oalex Anderson opened the scoring for the visitors, but a Jamal Yorke own goal would level things late in the second half.
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines have won both of their home matches by the narrowest of margins. A 1-0 win over Dominica in September followed by the same result over Suriname in October make up six of the nation’s eight points.
Nicaragua recovered from a draw and a loss in its September fixtures with back-to-back wins over Dominica in October. Forward Carlos Chavarria scored three goals in the last two matches to lift his country to seven points in the group.
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines can secure promotion to League A and qualification to the 2021 Gold Cup with a win and a Suriname loss.
