GROS ISLET, Saint Lucia – Saint Lucia will play their first home match in the 2019-20 Concacaf Nations League when they host El Salvador on Tuesday in Group B of League B at the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground in Gros Islet, Saint Lucia.
It marks just the second meeting between the two nations, with the first coming back on matchday one when El Salvador emerged with a 3-0 win.
The islanders put up a strong fight in San Salvador despite the defeat and will feel confident that they can go toe-to-toe with the group leaders.
Kurt Frederick is the man who can do damage in attack and has Saint Lucia’s lone goal in the CNL, however it is the play of GK Vino Barclett that will be key. The Saint Lucia backstop has registered 20 saves thus far in the competition.
El Salvador are firing on all cylinders after a 2-0 win at Montserrat and with FW Rodolfo Zelaya, who scored a goal on three shots against Montserrat, back in the fold, El Salvador will fancy their chances of another three points and a step closer to promotion and the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup berth.
