BASSETERRE, Saint Kitts and Nevis – Saint Kitts and Nevis and French Guiana battled to an entertaining 2-2 draw on Sunday night in Group B of League B of the Concacaf Nations League at Warner Park in Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis.
French Guiana enjoyed a strong start, as they took a 1-0 lead in the 23’ thanks to Miguel Haabo’s finish.
Saint Kitts and Nevis would work their way back into the match thanks to a sensational free kick goal scored in the 50’ by Theo Warton, who curled in a right-footed effort into the top left corner to make it 1-1.
Les Yana Dokos responded swiftly, as a Saint Kitts and Nevis handball allowed Alex Eric to give French Guiana a 2-1 lead in the 52’ via penalty kick.
The Sugar Boyz were able to regroup and a loose ball right in front of the French Guiana goal allowed Rowan Liburd to swoop in and poke home the 2-2 equalizer in the 75’.
Both teams were keen to try to find a late winner, but neither could break through and were forced to settle for the point.
