MANAGUA, Nicaragua – Nicaragua hosts Dominica in Group D of League B of Concacaf Nations League action this Friday at the National Stadium in Managua, Nicaragua.
Neither team got off to their preferred starts with only one point collected between the two sides during the September fixtures.
Nicaragua looked to be on their way to a home win in their first match, but a late goal would have them settle for the 1-1 draw against Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Things only took a turn for the worst with a 6-0 loss at Suriname.
Dominica also lost their opening home match, a 2-1 loss to Suriname where they allowed the first goal. They would be unable to score away in their second match, ultimately falling 1-0 at Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
The two nations have only faced off twice all-time. The Central Americans won both of their encounters against the Caribbean nation in 2011, which came by way of a home-and-home series in qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
A loss would further complicate either nation’s hopes to find promotion to League A and qualify for the 2021 Gold Cup. A defeat would also push either side closer to relegation to League C.
