KINGSTON, Jamaica – Unbeaten Jamaica host Aruba in Group C of League B on Saturday in Concacaf Nations League action at the Independence Park in Kingston, Jamaica.
The Reggae Boyz are off to a perfect 2-0-0 start to their CNL campaign and have yet to receive a goal. Andre Blake was the goalkeeper in both of those matches and stood out as one of the top performers through the September fixtures.
Jamaica defeated Antigua and Barbuda 6-0 in Montego Bay to kick off their CNL campaign and followed it up with a 4-0 victory at Guyana. Shamar Nicholson stood out as one of the top performers with brace in the first match and two assists in the second.
Aruba lost both of its opening encounters in CNL, an 1-0 defeat to Guyana followed by a 2-1 loss at Antigua and Barbuda. Forward Terence Groothusen, who turned 23 on September 16, scored the lone goal for Aruba.
This will be only the second time the two nations have crossed paths.
The only other encounter between the two nations happened at the 1997 Caribbean Cup, where Jamaica took a 6-0 win. Current Jamaican Manager Theodore Whitmore had a brace in that match.
