SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador – The Dominican Republic will be hoping to secure a positive result when they hit the road to face El Salvador in their final Group B match of League B in the 2019-20 Concacaf Nations League on Tuesday night at the Estadio Cuscatlan in San Salvador.
The home side secured their place in the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup and promotion to League A with a dramatic, stoppage time 1-0 win over Montserrat on Saturday night.
The Dominican Republic will now try to finish in second place in the group and punch their ticket to the Gold Cup qualifiers with a win in Central America.
Tuesday’s visitors are coming off a frustrating 1-0 defeat at Saint Lucia but showed plenty of danger going forward.
A draw might also suffice for the Dominican Republic should Montserrat fail to make up the four goals on goal differential when they meet Saint Lucia on Tuesday.
There may even be a mental edge for the Dominican Republic with the knowledge that the last time these two teams met back in September, the Dominican Republic collected a 1-0 win, their first ever over the Cuscatlecos.
