CAYENNE, French Guiana – A defensive battle ended with Grenada and French Guiana playing to a spirited 0-0 draw on Thursday night in Group C of League B of the 2019-20 Concacaf Nations League on Thursday at the Stade Municipal Dr. Edmard Lama in Cayenne, French Guiana.
It was a tight, intense 90 minutes of football between the two teams, with the two goalkeepers shining throughout to keep the opposing attack at bay.
French Guiana GK Simon Lugier was a presence throughout, making a number of key saves and interventions to keep things clean for Les Yana Dokos.
His counterpart in the Grenada net, Jason Belfon, was just as superb and made sure his team secured the result to keep them atop the table and edge closer to promotion in League A and a berth in the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup.
For both goalkeepers, it was their first respective clean sheet of the CNL.
The two teams will do battle again on Sunday, this time from the Kirani James Athletic Stadium in St. George’s Grenada.
