SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador – El Salvador will kick off its Concacaf Nations League campaign when they tangle with Saint Lucia in Group B of League B on Saturday night at the Estadio Cuscatlan in San Salvador.
Among all the places to play away in the Concacaf region, there is perhaps no venue more difficult than the Estadio Cuscatlan, and El Salvador will once again be relying on their strong home support for an advantage against the Caribbean nation.
After missing the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup, FW Rodolfo Zelaya is back in the mix for Head Coach Carlos de los Cobos and with other weapons like MF Nelson Bonilla, Darwin Ceren and Andres Flores, El Salvador will fancy their chances of securing three points.
Yet for Saint Lucia, Saturday’s affair represents an opportunity for the islanders to take another step forward after a very solid Concacaf Nations League Qualifying campaign in which they finished with a 2W-1D-1L record.
Attacking talents Jevick Mcfarlane and Pernel Williams have the speed and firepower to do damage to any defense and will lead a Saint Lucia team hoping to throw a wrinkle in El Salvador’s promotion plans
