ROSEAU, Dominica – Group H of the Concacaf Nations League kicks off with Dominica hosting Suriname in League B action at the Windsor Park - Sport Stadium in Roseau, Dominica.
The two sides will meet for just the fourth time in an official encounter. Suriname has won twice, while Dominica is looking for their first win in the series.
Coincidentally, the two nations also took part in the kickoff to Concacaf Nations League Qualifying. That encounter ended in a 0-0 draw at the Stade Rene Serge Nabajoth in Les Abymes, Guadeloupe in what was the first ever CNL match.
Dominica lost in their following encounter but would win their last two matches to finish 14thin qualifying. Julian Wade was the nation’s top scorer with three goals and scored in both of his country’s victories.
Suriname also went on to win two of their final three matches in qualifying and finished 12thin the standings – edging Dominica on goal difference. Goalkeeper Claidel Kohinor of 2019 Scotiabank Concacaf League participant SV Robinhood was one of the most outstanding players during the qualifiers with at least four saves in multiple matches.
The encounter will be the first match of Group H, with Nicaragua hosting Saint Vincent and the Grenadines later in the day.
