PROVIDENCIALES, Turks and Caicos Islands -- Two of the strongest sides in all of League C will meet this week at the TCIFA Stadium in Providenciales in a pivotal match for both teams.
The Turks and Caicos Islands closed out their qualifying campaign with back-to-back impressive results, highlighted by a dramatic 3-2 victory over Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. They will be eager to continue that form now that the real competition has started.
On the other side, Guadeloupe have already made their Concacaf Nations League debut, having cruised past Sint Maarten on Saturday evening by a score of 5-1. Les Gwada Boys were stellar in all aspects but made a real statement with a pair of very long-range goals.
Turks and Caicos now are armed with the knowledge that closing down quickly is a must, as Guadeloupe can score from almost anywhere when given just a little space.
While Guadeloupe come into the match on fairly short rest, the hosts should be fresh and fully fit; their last match was on August 21 when they traveled to Florida for a tune-up against a minor league all-star team.
This will be the first ever meeting between these two countries, but the lack of a longstanding rivalry won’t make the match any less intense.
