GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands – Group A of League C in the Concacaf Nations League resumes on the heels of Saint Martin putting an eight-game losing streak to rest with a historic 3-0 win over the first place Cayman Islands.
The Turtles were not happy with the result, but have a chance for revenge when the teams meet again on Tuesday, this time in George Town.
The Cayman Islands’s last game at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex was a massive 3-2 victory over Barbados that saw the hosts soar to the top of the table.
It’s hard to improve upon debatably your best win ever, but the Turtles know another showing of that caliber in front of the home fans should be enough to secure victory.
For Saint Martin, the goal is to recreate their previous performance, in which they out-shot the Turtles 17-5 and passed at a 94% success rate. Yannick Bellechasse, the hat-trick hero, will be looking to keep his momentum heading into the team’s next match.
A win for the Cayman Islands means they can remain at least tied for the top of the group depending on results from the other game, while a second win for Saint Martin could potentially put them right into the promotion picture.
