THE VALLEY, Anguilla -- The Cayman Islands were one of the great success stories of September, with two victories including a 3-2 classic with Barbados to seize the top position in Group A.
They’ll open the October window by traveling to Anguilla to face off with Saint Martin, currently in fourth place in the group.
Saint Martin’s last performance showed great fight, when they were behind 2-0 after just six minutes but then battled back to control much of the second half, though they still fell by a score of 2-1.
Michael Martin has emerged as one of the best players in all of League C so far, scoring three goals for the Cayman Islands. Goalkeeper Albertini Holness leads League C with 11 saves.
For Saint Martin, the pivotal figure remains midfielder Wilfried Dalmat, who has experience with European clubs like Standard Liege, Nantes, Marseille. Dalmat scored his first international goal against the US Virgin Islands.
The Cayman Islands can continue to set the pace in Group A with a victory, while Saint Martin can jump right back into contention with a victory.
The two sides will face off again in George Town later in the week.
