LEONORA, Guyana – Guyana defeated Antigua and Barbuda 5-1 in Group C of League B action in the 2019-20 Concacaf Nations League on Monday at the Leonora National Track & Field Center in Leonora, Guyana.
The hosts took the lead two minutes after the opening whistle thanks to a strike from Trayon Bobb. It was the 25-year-old’s first goal of the tournament.
Bobb struck again in the 28th minute to extend the lead for the Golden Jaguars. The opportunity came from a through ball by Emery Welshman.
D'Andre Bishop scored for Antigua and Barbuda three minutes into the second half, marking the second international goal for the 17-year-old.
Before the Benna Boys could find an equalizer, Guyana would extend their lead off a couple of set pieces.
Sheldon Holder picked up his second CNL goal by heading the ball off a corner kick in the 64th minute.
Kadell Daniel would then make it 4-1 off a free kick in the 77th minute, which was Daniel’s first goal in the CNL group stage and second for the senior team.
Pernell Schultz picked up Guyana’s fifth goal in second half stoppage time to round things out.
Both nations now hold six points through four matches played. Guyana regains second place in the group with the result.
