WILLEMSTAD, Curacao – Antigua and Barbuda defeated Aruba by a score of 3-2 in Group C of League B action in the 2019-20 Concacaf Nations League on Monday night at the Ergilio Hato Stadium in Willemstad, Curacao.
Josua John gave Aruba the 1-0 lead in the 20th minute, but Junior Benjamin would level the score for Antigua and Barbuda in the 36th minute.
Aruba were down to 10 men after Nickenson Paul was shown a red card in the 63rd minute.
Despite being a man down, Noah Harms recovered the ball on the left wing and drove it into the box to regain the lead for Aruba in the 76th minute.
The joy would be temporary, as Harms would be caught on the wrong end of an attacking play and credited with an own goal in the 83rd minute.
The momentum stayed with the Benna Boys and Daniel Bowry scored his first CNL goal shortly after to put Antigua and Barbuda up 3-2 in the 84th minute.
Antigua and Barbuda finish the group stage with nine points and a 3-0-3 mark, and will await the result of the Guyana versus Jamaica match to confirm either a second or third place finish.
Aruba ends the tournament with a 0-0-6 record and are relegated to League C.
