LOOKOUT, Montserrat – It will be an exciting battle between two teams with large ambitions in the Concacaf Nations League when Montserrat host the Dominican Republic to open Group B play in League B on Saturday afternoon at the Blakes Estate Stadium in Lookout, Montserrat.
Montserrat was one of the stories of Concacaf Nations League Qualifying after accumulating a 3W-0D-1L record and narrowly missing out on a 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup berth on goal difference.
Now the Emerald Boys begin a new test and will be led by FW Spencer Weir-Daley, who scored two goals in CNLQ, including one of the goals in the tournament in a 1-0 win over Belize.
The Dominican Republic have plenty of motivation of their own after their Gold Cup qualification near-miss and a positive result away in Montserrat would be a good way to begin the promotion climb to League A.
Domingo Peralta is no stranger to supplying goals in Concacaf competition, having scored three in CNLQ, and he’ll be relied upon to once again strike fear into the opposing defense on Saturday.
